THE VICTORIAN GOVERMENT, AUSTRALIA, ANNOUNCES FINANCIAL PACKAGE TO SUPPORT DOVETAIL ELECTRIC AVIATION

Invest Victoria, the Victorian Government’s lead investment attraction and promotion agency, has provided non-dilutive financial support to Dovetail Electric Aviation. This support is aimed at furthering Dovetail’s efforts in bringing its first electric aircraft conversion to market.

On 12 April 2024, the Victorian Government announced a financial investment to support the development roadmap of Dovetail Electric Aviation, contributing to materialising Dovetail’s mission to bring electric aviation to market as early as 2026. The Hon Harriet Shing MP in her capacity as Member for Eastern Victoria made the groundbreaking announcement.

Invest Victoria, the Victorian Government’s lead investment attraction and promotion agency, is offering non-dilutive financial support to Dovetail Electric Aviation. This support is aimed at furthering Dovetail’s efforts in Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) and fostering economic development through the advancement of an emerging sector.

Owing to the support received from the Victorian Government, Dovetail’s Australian Headquarters (HQ) have been relocated from NSW to Victoria, where Dovetail has both presence at Melbourne and Latrobe.

The announcement took place at Latrobe Regional Airport at the new ‘Latrobe Aerospace Technology Precinct’ AAM sandbox, where Dovetail Electric Aviation has been conducting tests on its innovative propulsion system, featuring a hydrogen fuel cell. This groundbreaking technology represents a historic milestone in Australian aviation, with Dovetail Electric Aviation leading the country’s Advanced Air Mobility sector by becoming the first company to develop and test a hydrogen-electric propulsion system specifically designed for aviation.

Harriet Shing MP said, “We are really pleased to support Dovetail Electric Aviation’s new centre in the Latrobe Valley, which will deliver world-leading innovations for the aviation sector, create new jobs in regional Victoria and contribute to the state’s net-zero emissions goal.”

To that, the Minister for Economic Growth Tim Pallas ahs added: “Securing Dovetail Electric Aviation’s footprint in the Latrobe Aerospace Technology Precinct is another win for AAM in Victoria and our clean energy economy – it will make a valuable contribution to our state’s research and development sector.”

David Doral, CEO of Dovetail Electric Aviation, expressed his gratitude for the government’s support, saying, “We are honoured to receive the support of the State Government of Victoria. This investment will enable us to accelerate our research and development efforts, bringing us closer to our vision of a sustainable, efficient, and accessible aviation future.”

With significant public and private funding from large corporates and Stage Governments, Dovetail is demonstrating significant traction, a testament to its solid plan to decarbonize regional aviation.
