DOVETAIL ELECTRIC AVIATION APPOINTS MICHELE D’ERCOLE AS CHIEF TECHNOLOGY OFFICER AND HEAD OF ENGINEERING
Dovetail Electric Aviation is pleased to announce the appointment of Michele D’Ercole as Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Head of Engineering. Michele brings more than 30 years of leadership experience across aerospace, turbomachinery, and advanced propulsion technologies, further strengthening Dovetail’s technical capabilities as the company progresses toward certification and entry into service of its electric aviation solutions.

The announcement was made publicly during AERO Friedrichshafen 2026, where Dovetail is exhibiting for the second consecutive year, showcasing its proprietary DovePower™ Electric Propulsion System and DovePack™ battery platform — two core technologies designed to enable the retrofit of existing regional aircraft with electric and hybrid-electric propulsion systems.
Throughout his career, Michele has held senior engineering and executive roles at traditional global organizations including Fiat Avio, GE Oil & Gas and GE Aviation, but also new electrification players like magniX or Hyperworks. His background combines deep technical expertise in turbine and propulsion systems with strong experience in industrialization and organizational leadership. At GE Aviation Czech, he served as Engineering Director and later President & General Manager for small commercial turboprop programs. At magniX, he played a key role as COO and Acting CEO, contributing to the development and certification of electric propulsion technologies for aviation. Most recently, he led the feasibility phase of the Veneto Hyper Transfer project as Chief Hyperloop Officer at Hyperworks.
Michele holds a Master of Science in Aeronautical Engineering from La Sapienza University of Rome and has lived and worked across Europe, Canada, Australia, and the United States.
As CTO and Head of Engineering, Michele will lead Dovetail’s global engineering activities, supporting the development, industrialization, and certification of the company’s electric propulsion solutions, including DovePower and DovePack.
Dovetail’s presence at AERO 2026 marks another milestone in the company’s growth, following the unveiling of DovePower last year and continued progress in battery and propulsion testing programs across Spain and Australia. The addition of senior leadership with direct experience in electric propulsion certification further reinforces the company’s position as a key innovator in the transition toward lower-emission regional aviation.
