DOVETAIL ELECTRIC AVIATION AND SKYDIVE VOSS SIGN AGREEMENT TO INTRODUCE ELECTRIC AIRCRAFT FOR SKYDIVING IN NORWAY

October 22, 2024
Dovetail Electric Aviation, a pioneer in retrofitting existing aircraft with electric powertrains, and Skydive Voss, Norway’s leading skydiving operator, have signed a collaboration agreement to convert several Cessna Caravans 208 into electric aircraft. They will also jointly explore the conversion of other smaller aircraft used for skydiving applications, like the Cessna 182 and 206.

This partnership marks a significant step towards reducing the environmental impact of skydiving in Norway, with both companies working closely to introduce the first electric aircraft for skydiving activities in the region as early as 2026. The collaboration is part of a broader effort to pioneer sustainable aviation technologies in the Norwegian market.

First test flights could take place sooner than 2026 if the consortium—formed by Dovetail Electric Aviation, Skydive Voss, and Scandinavian Seaplanes, with the potential involvement of other partners—succeeds with a proposal under the International Test Arena for zero- and low-emission aircraft. This program, initiated by Avinor and the Civil Aviation Authority of Norway (CAA Norway), aims to accelerate the deployment of green aviation technologies through structured testing and demonstration projects. If approved, the consortium would pave the way for real-world trials of these innovative electric aircraft, demonstrating their capabilities in Norway’s unique conditions.

With this agreement, Skydive Voss becomes the second customer for Dovetail Electric Aviation in Norway, following a similar partnership established earlier this year with Scandinavian Seaplanes. Both agreements represent a growing interest in the transition to electric aviation. The partnership between Dovetail and Skydive Voss highlights a shared commitment to advancing zero-emission technologies, contributing to Norway’s ambitious climate goals, and setting a new standard for the future of skydiving.
